Arts at the Center of Learning

What is AIE?

AIE is a grant-funded residency program that allows schools to design and implement an effective artist residency that is flexible and collaborative. Schools outline their needs and plan to meet those needs by engaging a teaching artist to work with teachers and students during the school day for 20 days or more.

All effective residencies include planned teacher professional development led by the artist; connections made through an assembly, field trip, or visiting artist; and a culminating event at which parents and the community can share in the work accomplished by students through the residency. AIE schools incorporate all of these components for highly effective residencies.

The AIE residency grant program provides funding, support, and structure for schools to utilize professional teaching artists to realize their goals.
